High Speed Internet
ADSL and SDSL:
Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) is one of the xDSL technologies and enables users to phone and transmit data via the same connection at the same time. ADSL is well suited for Internet access for private users since the transmission speed from the network to the user (download) is much higher than the speed from the user to the network (upload).
Single-Pair High-speed Digital Subscriber Line (SHDSL) is a data communications technology that uses copper telephone lines to connect to the Internet at high speeds in each direction . SHDSL is ideal for offices needing to send files, host video content, or be accessed via remote desktop sessions from smaller offices or teleworkers. Also SHDSL requires a dedicated phone line which cannot be used simultaneously for transmitting telephone calls.
An advanced technology called Ethernet over SHDSL allows symmetric data rates up to 5.7Mbps on one pair. Higher data rates can be achieved using two or more copper pairs to reach 22Mbps (4 pairs) or 45Mbps (8 pairs). A great feature is automatic load balancing and fail-over on bonded pairs for optimum throughput and redundancy.
